Ms. Leena Uppal is Assistant Director with MAMTA. She comes with a decade long experience in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and has led varied networks and coalitions in the country.

She has expertise in working on family planning, self-abortion, and population policy. She has single-handedly conducted qualitative studies in Assam, Nagaland and Manipur on the ethics of Artificial Reproductive Technologies (ARTs) to highlight the impact of ARTs on women’s health and agency.

She is currently engaged in various family planning programmes for young and low parity couples in Uttar Pradesh. She is also implementing a technical support programme in Cambodia on mobile technology to enhance the prevention and linkage to HIV services among young people, through local partners. She is also implementing Rashtriya Kishore Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK) – the national adolescent health programme across five districts of Uttar Pradesh. She is engaged in designing interventions and programmes to reach out to the most marginalized groups in the country (including the sexually marginalized groups) through mobile-based interventions, which have been piloted and scaled to South-Asian countries like Indonesia and Cambodia.
